Getting to know your travertine is the first step in stone care.

Restore the Factory Quality Finish to All Travertine Surfaces.

Travertine tile is a type of tile that is greatly related to limestone. Travertine forms over thousands of years and contains patterns and colors that are a lovely addition to any home. Travertine tiles are utilized both in the floors of many homes as well as on countertops. This beautiful material works well in almost any room of the house due to the beautiful texture that is indicative of the stone coupled with the sheen that appears on nicely polished Travertine tiles. From time to time generally due to repeated contact as people walk or objects scuff on these surfaces the Travertine becomes clouded. This is called etching. Once this clouding of the Travertine has occurred, there is a way to restore the Travertine to its previous, unclouded condition and the process is actually quite simple.

If you have purchased a home that already had Travertine tile installed or if you did not receive care and maintenance then contact us today. Travertine Cleaning & Sealing is a great way to maintain original look of your stone. The travertine is deep cleaned with a intensive stone cleaner which removes soil, grease, and completely removes all sealers. we then apply a penetrating sealer designed to protect the travertine tile or countertop. If your travertine has an uneven finish or looks blotchy, then the surface of the travertine needs to bee honed and polished back to factory specs. Honing and polishing is typically a service you should have preformed every 2 years. Travertine restoration is required when the stone surface has many etch marks, scratch's or has a finish eaten away by acidic or beech based stone cleaners.

Travertine Restoration FAQ's

Bleach may be a great disinfectant, but it dulls the finish of your Travertine and in many cases change its color. There are other options to disinfect your granite, so DO NOT USE BLEACH because you will end up damaging your travertine!
If a travertine sealer is not used on your countertops or not been sealed in 3 years the travertine will absolutely absorb food, grease, and liquids. Travertine is softer than a stone like granite so i must be sealed to prevent damage to the surface.
Although most new travertine vanities are installed factory sealed, it does help the travertine to resist dirt and spills, which can cause etching and staining. Sealants block liquids from seeping into pores of the travertine. Existing vanity's, counters et. need to be sealed every 2 years to maintain the factory look.
